Includes materials relating to Brüning's chancellorship of Germany (1930-1932); his relationship to President von Hindenburg, and events leading up to Brüning's dismissal by von Hindenburg; the political, economic, and social climate of Germany after the First World War; the Treaty of Versailles, and German reparations and disarmament; German economic policies and the German labor movement; the rise of the Nazis to power and the plight of refugees during the Second World War; Brüning's commentary and analysis of Allied and Axis war strategies; employment of German emigrés; post-war conditions in Germany and Brüning's views on recovery and reunification; and personal correspondence with relatives and friends.
